What’s On In February Half Term

Half Term Fun For February 2016 In West Wales

The days are getting longer, there’s some welcome warmth in the sun, and the snowdrops and daffodils are making a colourful appearance….and before we know it Half Term will be upon us!

As always, there’s an array of family-friendly activities being held locally for you to enjoy during Half Term.

Here’s a roundup of some of our favourites, so get your diary out and start planning :

The Welsh Wildlife Centre, Cilgerran

Most kids love nature-related crafts and activities, and the Wildlife Centre just down the road at Teifi Marshes are running an event every day over half term. Activities include Lucky Dip Craft Activites, making Valentine Heart Fat Ball Feeders for birds, making your own Willow Butterflies, Candle making, Clay Animal modelling, Woodland Photo Frame making, creating and decorating a Bird Feeder…and more! This is in addition to all their marked nature trails, and the bird hides for bird-watching. Definitely a must-visit for all wildlife enthusiasts. Check HERE for full details.

Gwili Railway

Enjoy a taste of a bygone era with a ride on the Gwili Railway steam train near Carmarthen. Trains are running on Thursday 19th February at 11am (with Welsh Elevenses) and at 12.20pm, 13.50pm and 15.15pm (with Strawberry Cream Teas). Check HERE for full details.

Get creative and have a lovely keepsake to take away with you. At Peapod Pottery Studio you can choose a piece from their wide range of pottery blanks, and then paint your own design – which will then be glazed and fired while you wait, for you to take away. The staff are on hand to give friendly tips and inspiration, and there’s a small cafe to enjoy a drink and snack while your new creation is glazed and fired. Check HERE for more details.

Castell Henllys

Step back in time to the reconstructed Iron Age Hill Fort Village at Castell Henllys and give the family a taste of what it was like to live 2,000 years ago! They are running a number of craft and activity session during the week, including Creative Celts, Tribal Warriors, and Fairy Tale Fun. Check HERE for full details.

This is in addition to their regular displays in the County Museum in the manor house itself, plus the 60 acres of park and woodland to explore. Check HERE for opening times.

Stackpole Estate

Here in Pembrokeshire we’re renowned for having very little light pollution, so if star-gazing is your thing pop along to the Dark Skies Extravaganza event at The National Trust’s Stackpole Estate on 18th Feb. You’ll be able to learn about the Milky Way, major constellations and meteor showers in our planetarium. There will also be a film, rocket making and outside observing sessions if the skies are clear. Check HERE for full details.

Enjoy a host of different A Cappella styles including The Sons Of Pitches (as seen on TV in The Naked Choir), South African Zulu Male Choir, Cordydd, and Cor Pawb. Better still you can combine it with a mooch around some of Narberth’s popular independent shops and cafés. Check HERE for full details.

So there’s a quick roundup of some of the events and activities taking place during Half Term. There are also plenty of other family-friendly places to visit locally, including Folly Farm, Teifi Mania Indoor Play Centre, Mwldan Theatre and Cinema and Hangar Five Indoor Trampoline Park to mention just a few.

Of course if you’re staying with us as a guest you will also have full use of all OUR onsite facilities, including the indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, gym, toddler soft play area, Big Play Barn and pets’ corner, outdoor adventure playground…plus daily feeding of the farm animals and egg collecting!
