West Wales – the magnet for gallery goers and garden lovers

“This was our 4th trip to Croft Farm! That in itself says a lot…”

Redbec1980 on Tripadvisor, from Lancaster

Whatever the time of year, come and discover this seasonally changing, legend-telling, and special landscape…

The Preseli Hills, the flowing rivers such as The River Teifi etc, The Celtic Cross at Nevern as well as other monuments, all woven together by The Welsh folk legends of The Mabinogion have drawn artists to the area for centuries; so it’s no surprise that galleries and gardens thrive in the towns and villages of the Cardigan Bay area.  You’re spoilt for choice in being able to visit gardens in Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, or check out the art scene at the many galleries locally. Then again, why not simply go ‘off piste’ and explore the coastal villages and inland rivers at your own pace?

From Pendre Café which exhibits the best Cardigan has to offer, to artworks shown in Cardigan Castle, The Guild Hall also exhibiting gallery material from time-to-time, and further afield in Narbeth with the likes of the Creative Café there and Peppers Bar/ Gallery/ Bistro in Fishguard; there’s a host of talent to discover in West Wales…  You will even find, the internationally reknown, Diane Mathias’ work in some of our Cottages.

Here at Croft Farm & Celtic Cottages, our gardens are as much a labour of love as is maintaining the luxurious self-catering cottages.  Passionate about how we utilise space, you’ll also find a planted walkway with great views of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire at the top.  In Pembrokeshire, The Bosherston Lily Ponds boast a hidden treat for wildlife lovers, meanwhile there’s the National Botanical Gardens in Carmarthenshire (worth the drive!), to the unforgettable Cae Hir Gardens for a visit to Ceredigion’s best.  Further, amateur and experienced horticulturalists alike will enjoy all that Penrallt Garden Centre has to offer, which boasts the extra of a very good cafe and is a good base for walks e.g. Witches Cauldron Walk.
