COVID-19 Safety Requirements
for a stress-free stay
A holiday here at Croft Farm & Celtic Cottages is about escaping the day-to-day stress of life and being able to unwind with your nearest and dearest. We know that lockdown has put unbelievable pressure on everyone, and, by following the latest Welsh Government and public health guidelines and safety requirements, we’re thrilled to be able to offer our guests a chance to break out of lockdown and be in a stress-free environment surrounded by fresh sea air, reunited with your families once again. We are confident that we will still be able to deliver an excellent guest experience during these challenging times; here is how we plan to do it!
Safety Requirements completed before opening
We’ve been busy on the farm over the last few weeks completing a COVID-19 Risk Assessment adhering to the Welsh Government and public health guidelines. In order to be open and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our guests, staff and families, we must follow certain safety protocols as outlined by the government – you can see these here.
What happens when you arrive
Before arrival, guests will receive a personal login where you will find your booking details and online welcome information. On arrival, the key to the cottage will be disinfected and left in the door so that guests can let themselves in without any face-to-face contact. We’re not ignoring you – our office mobile will be available for emergencies 24/7 and we’re delighted to talk to you on-site, just please observe social distancing measures.
Some extra safety requirements in your Welcome Packs
No, we’re afraid it’s not Prosecco; you’ll now find a COVID-19 Welcome Pack as well as your usual items. The Covid-19 Welcome Pack is a sealed bag containing masks, disposable gloves, 80% hand sanitiser gel and anti-viral surface wipes. It is a perfect back-up of protective supplies if you find yourself in need.
How our cleaning and changeover measures have changed
Due to the “double clean” we now have to do for each cottage changeover, this will take double the time. As well as the usual high standard clean that we do in every cottage, we must now steam and disinfect everything with viricidal sprays to ensure that the coronavirus is eliminated if present. Our experienced cleaning team will be provided with the correct PPE and following a new cleaning checklist issued by the Professional Association of Self Caterers – you will be able to see this checklist on arrival so that you are reassured your cottage is COVID-free and adhering to new safety requirements.
Furthermore, you may notice some things missing from the cottage such as cushions, bed throws, paper information leaflets, games, extra cutlery/crockery etc. This is so that the risk of contamination is reduced, as we have more to clean to a higher standard in a limited time frame.
How you can help us to help you
All guests and staff on-site will be asked to follow social distance guidelines and therefore keep a safe distance. We are lucky that our property and farm are very open and that all our cottages are separate from each other but there will be signs around to remind us all.
We also ask that you please do not use anti-bacterial products or household bleach in the sink – these will really upset our water treating system and septic tank. We supply eco-friendly cleaning products and have provided you with disinfecting wipes for surfaces to use instead.
Animal Feeding and other facilities
There will be a rota for the facilities we are able to open so that it is possible to stick to the legal guidelines and safety requirements. Every day there will be two animal feeding times – one in the morning and one in the afternoon – where two families will be taken around at each time.
Just as soon as we can, we will be opening our indoor swimming pool with exclusive use and therefore also be on a rota. In order to clean and disinfect properly between every cottage stay, we will be able to give 5 cottages a slot a day. This means in the week you stay with us you will get three 1hr 30min swims at an allocated time.
For now, we are unable to open the Big Play Barn, Gym, Indoor Soft Play Area and Outdoor Playground. However, you are free to roam the farm as you like seeing the animals and using the football field but always be mindful of person-to-person contact.
We will also provide information on recommended local activities and takeaways when you book. Due to safety requirements, some of these will need to be arranged in advance, so please ask and we’d be happy to help you.
What happens when you leave
On the day of departure, there are also a few things we will ask you politely to do: strip your bedding and put it together with your towels in the laundry bags provided, take out all the bins, recycling and compost and fill the dishwasher leaving it on a running wash. (We ask that you do not empty the dishwasher or we will have to wash it all again.) This will be a huge help to us and makes sure your cottage is cleaned to the required level.
Due to these new guidelines, we would appreciate it if you could arrive from 4:30 pm and help us by departing by 9:30 am.
Protocol if you develop symptoms
We hope that we don’t need to use these protocols, but they’re here to ensure the safety and consolation of our guests and staff.
If you or a member of your party feels unwell on arrival or develop symptoms during your stay, following Government advice you will be asked to leave your cottage and return to your primary residence. There, you will be required to self-isolate for 7 days, whilst the other group members must for 14 days. Please inform us if this happens to you as there are different cleaning protocols in order to protect the staff and the next family due in the cottages.
Andy, Sylvie and the Croft Farm team can’t wait to welcome you back to Croft Farm and Celtic Cottages safely this summer…we might just have to save the hugs for your next visit! Book now to avoid disappointment.
